There are few more enchanting experiences than seeing a play live. From the visceral performances of the actors, which feel all the more real when seeing them with your own eyes; to the extravagant set design, that captures the imagination; to the wonderfully intricate costumes that only pull you in further. There's nothing quite like it.
Yet, one of the main reasons why many don't get to experience these wonders is the price. So we wanted to help you wannabe theatregoers a hand with saving some money.
Our first piece of advice would be to go on a weekday, as tickets are often more expensive on the weekend. Next, while we know many won't want to be in the worse seats, it's often a sacrifice you have to pay. So instead, why not just go one bracket up? This is only usually a few quid more and is more than worth the hit. Finally, we'd recommend giving more local or underground theatres a go. Whilst we all want to see the biggest shows on the biggest stages, you will struggle to do this on the cheap, and there are so many incredible performances in the slightly smaller theatres that would love more support. So get down!
