Manchester’s Ritz venue prepares to host two of the biggest names in the history of hip hop on 13th of June 2013.
Hailing from South Bronx, New York comes none other KRS One. The controversial hip hop figurehead has been one of the most influential members of the rap fraternity since his debut under the pseudonym Boogie Down Productions alongside DJ Scott La Rock and Derrick ‘D-Nice’ Jones.
Gaining fame and fans by his unique corporation of Jamaican infused roots to his MCing style, KRS One slowly began to forge his own style with great results. With a huge number of album releases under his belt, KRS One has not let up with his prolific creativity.
His performance at The Ritz will see him bring his own take on hip hop to the table, performing tracks from his recent album BDP, with a few classics thrown in there for good measure.
Alongside him will be Immortal Technique. The Harlem based urban activist and politically charged rapper has been on the receiving end of serious hype since his underground first album Revolutionary Vol. 1 was released back in 2001. Without much help from a record label and with limited distribution, his early releases became massive through word of mouth and praise from music journalists.
His following three albums, whilst gaining him far more notoriety and plaudits, still stay faithful to the complete creative control Immortal Technique has held fast too, making them unadulterated and pure hip hop classics. With forthcoming material immanent, the Peru born rapper is guaranteed to be on point at his appearance in June.
For true fans of hip hop, June 13th at The Ritz is going to be completely unmissable.
